I’m Emily “Domino” Taylor, also known as @pentapod on Twitter, formerly of EverQuest 2 and now very excited to be a producer on the upcoming EverQuest Next and Landmark titles.
As I write this, there’s a week to go before SOE Live. The team has been hard at work planning what we’ll reveal in the keynote and on the panels, and deciding what we’ll save to talk about later, because we have so much exciting stuff to talk about that it’s going to take a while to get it all out there!
A small group of us are also spending multiple hours every day rehearsing the debut, which is going to be presented by Dave “Smokejumper” Georgeson but half a dozen of us will be on demo machines behind him driving the live demo, jumping when he says jump and running when he says run. With that many different people there’s a lot of coordination to rehearse – better make sure that huge kerran doesn’t stand in front of my tiny wizard or nobody will even see me! And with destructible terrain things can go WAY off plan if someone accidentally blows up the ground underneath where we’re supposed to be standing. So we’re rehearsing as if we’re practicing for a real life LARP or stage play to be sure we all look our best. Fortunately Dave’s the only one who has to worry about remembering his lines!
By the time you read this, the big Friday debut should be over and I hope you’re all as excited about the game as we are. This is going to be a game unlike anything we’ve seen before and I can’t wait till we’re ready to start letting you all into beta to join us. In the meantime, keep watching this space and the everquestnext.com website, follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and remember to join in the discussions each week at the Round Table, where we’ll be asking your thoughts on all sorts of topics. To whet your appetite, here’s a previously unreleased screenshot I took in game while we were rehearsing. I love how the game is looking already.
See you in Norrath soon!
