Everquest Next Discussion
From the material put out about this game, it seems to me that this is about money grabbing at it's finest with no desire to create something innovative, new and worthy of anything more then a lesson how to squeeze every possible penny from gullible consumers. From the handling of skills aka port ready to every possible device, instead of allowing innovative and creative player managed skill management. The classic classes that see no real progression but instead a new face over aka spend more money and you can do this but still limited to something created from the 90's model. The other information and points of discussions have me concerned but, there is not enough information to say negative or positive. Though my hope is still there for the ideas listed in your media about faction and individualistic nature of the character. Seeing what has so far been put out from the studio material wise though, I worry this game will be exactly what I address in the first line.
Just Updated

HI there, I happen to have bought a Nagafen hat back at Pax Prime 1-2 years ago from the Sony Online booth.
I forgot all about having it until I stumbled across it when moving stuff around. It's currently on ebay for a high price, but I am willing to negotiate if a fan is interested. Please email me at sachi_komori@live.com and title it "Nagafen hat" or feel free to find the listing on Ebay and PM me there. (open to NA residents).
Only 8 skills at a time, again ... Am i the only one who is bored of spending using the same 8 abilities again and again ? I dream of an mmo where character have plenty of different skills and that you need to use carefully against each monster. For example damage thematic monster : you need to use only fire damage cause immune to other damage, fleeing monster : must trap them or curse for debuff damage, group of weak monster : must used combine aoe damage.... I was very disapointed with game like Guildwars2 and Wildstar, we get bored quit rapidly cause your always doing the same thing in every battle, just replacing a skill by another more powefull when you level up. I prefered tactical battle , that is choosing wisely which skill you use, instead of speed no brain batlle focus on clicking at the right momeent on my only skill to optimize dps. What do you think about this ?
I was wondering, with the 100% destructibility of the world as Terry and crew are promising, are there going to be any mechanics in place to stop players from possibly ruining the world and creating problems for both gamers and developers? This situation crossed my mind after watching the keynote a 2nd time... If the world is 100% destructible, what stops a player from destroying a location of importance such as a city, or trapping important NPCs below ground?
RIP EQ Classic
These fucking developers! Goddamned fools!
Remake EQ Classic! Release Kunark and Velious as expansions!
Done!
It's a good thing ESO allowed UI-Addons... because the current Bank and Inventory system would be a nightmare without the "transfer-crafting-stuff" addon and the "visually-mark-crafting-stuff" addons (cooking, alchemy, equipment-researched-yes/no)...
I want to play the game, not micro-manage my bank and inventory and keep paper-notes of what I already learned and what not.
If EQ Next does not allow for UI-Addons, I strongly recommend making sure players don't have to micromanage crafting materials and keep paper note unless they want to...
im really hoping they are in there, I really loved illy and coercers
In EQ2 we had a need for support classes with holy trinity Tank, Healer and DPS. I hope the go with it in EQ next. If they are going to do a multi class system thee shouldn't be an issue with gettig healers and tanks for raids that can go DPS build for no raid times.
you should able to different classes not just adventurer. I want to be a paladin in landmark and I want to be able to chose my class.
I can imagine two mages destroying the battle field, like the descriptions in some other games where mountains are shattered or pierced.
Like that of Naruto on which two legendary ninjas shaped a valley.
Just saying, I hope what they said is true, though I wonder if theres spell wards or skills that nulify spells because lets face it, more likely the thing that will alter reality is mages with giant meteors
I would love to see farming, Inside landmark and EQnext.
I'd like especially to see the following types of farming:
Livestock: cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, goats, etc.
Plants: potatoes, carrots, leeks, tomatoes, etc.
Herbs: healing herbs, seasoning herbs, magical herbs etc.
Farmhouse: this would be the type of house that allows for farming (mostly land) :P
I find that the one thing that is important is the ability to have farming as part of your property, it makes houses more that just a place you stick forniture in and around.
I thought EQ Next was supposed to be set prior to original EQ timelines. That being said how can you play races that were 'discovered' in EQ expansions?
Iksar, Kerran and Froglok for example, its been a few years since I played but if memory serves the Iksar werent friendly/playable until Kunark, Kerran werent even discovered until we started going to the moon in SoL and I dont recall exactly when but Froggies were during Discord I think.
Its good though because I liked those races as characters, but it'll be interesting to see how (if) the devs write them into the game as playables.
In Everquest 2, as an RPer, I saw many people playing Werewolves and Vampires through the use of varrious illusions and items available in the game. Later SOE, added the free bloods, I belive it was, in response to this to give the players an actual Vampire race, of sorts, to play. The existance of these races has been part of the Everquest lore for a long time, since Everquest. Why not include them as playable races this time, from the start?
I, personally, am a big fan of werewolves, and I RPed as one in EQ2. So I would love to see them and vampies included.
I am not saying they should or need to be given any more powers than any of the other races will have, but mostly cosmetic with maybe a few fluff ailities like many of the other races in EQ enjoyed.
What do the rest of you think?
